There are complimentary shuttles running hourly to Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s most famous bridge. Take day trips to view the incredible museums, but spend peaceful evenings in the countryside. A dip in the pool is so refreshing too after a hot summer day in the city, as most hotels in Florence don’t have pools.

We dined at the restaurant nearby the pool, L’Oliveto Bistrot, for lunch. Their menu features delicious pici pasta (it was simple & delicious), grazing boards of cheeses & charcuterie, and local desserts. Be sure to get the focaccia too! Then, we spent the afternoon soaking up the sunshine poolside.

The 15th-century Wine Cellar is the perfect spot for a private tasting of regional wines paired with charcuterie and cheeses for aperitivo. We didn’t get the chance to explore it, but we did enjoy Medicean Bar, which is a glamorous and ornate bar located within the main villa. They also have outdoor seating and lovely menu. The wine menu was phenomenal, but most people were enjoying signature cocktails!

Grounds and Interiors

The villa is surrounded by lavish greenery and very extensive 22-acre grounds. You can wander around and enjoy quiet solitude or take a run along the Arno River. You’ll find a guests-only running track just along the waterfront that makes for a very peaceful way to start the morning.

The interiors are different than you would expect, as they actually have a bit of a modern flair. You can expect some typical Tuscan elements like exposed wooden beams, but with a twist from the usual earthy colors. The rooms tend to have vibrant colors and fancy details that provide a strong juxtaposition to the often muted colors in Tuscan hotels. It gives off a chic guesthouse vibe more than a traditional Italian hotel room.

One of their most popular offerings is the culinary academy. Arrange a private class with the executive chef or a member of her team, and learn to prepare authentic Tuscan cuisine. Then, enjoy it in their beautiful outdoor dining space with breathtaking vistas.

The hotel offers fabulous farm-to-table cuisine. Spices, herbs and vegetables are selected straight from the garden. While dining at Zita, experience breathtaking panoramic views while you enjoy a glass of Brunello di Montalcino (it’s a must). We ordered the truffle pasta, grilled pike, and then ordered another glass of wine. Their sommelier came to the table to ensure we selected the ideal glass of wine for our meals!

Wellness and Relaxation

Should you wish to relax even further, the spa offer incredible treatments. We enjoyed a massage, plus an hour-long circuit between a steam room, pool, and a frigid plunge pool. There are soothing treatment rooms, a separate wellness center, the underground hot and frigid cold pools, a hammam, a heated indoor pool, and a relaxation room with garden views. Access to the spa is only possible if you have a treatment booked.

This is the perfect Tuscany luxury hotel if you want to experience real tranquility during your vacation. Enjoy all the riches of nature, enjoy the beautiful infinity pool surrounded by lavender bushes, and disconnect from the realities of daily life.

We wandered the property and stumbled upon the UNESCO World Heritage site which holds the remains of a 12th century castle. It’s not everyday you get to experience such beauty and history up close!

Yes, It’s Family-Friendly

The private village houses are the best option for families, with 2-6 bedroom options, cozy living rooms, and kitchens. The rooms feature wood-beamed ceilings, original artworks, and artifacts hanging on walls.

Although there is no kids club on-site, babysitters are available for an additional fee, while additional beds can be added to the room for free (a rarity in Italy). The chefs will also gladly adjust the menu for children’s taste buds. They offer a wide array of games, pool toys, and balls to entertain little ones too.

Given the infinity pool and the hills throughout the property, it may be best for babies and families with older children who can safely enjoy the property.
